Paediatric trauma and orthopaedics consultant

Mr Rad completed his undergraduate training at the medical school of Lucian Blaga University, Sibiu, Romania. Since qualifying, he gained experience in all areas of orthopaedic surgery in Romania, European and U.S hospitals, and is fellowship trained in paediatric orthopaedics, at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London and Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital in Cardiff.

Experience

Mr Darius Rad specialises in all aspects of children’s trauma and orthopaedic surgery, with a special interest in paediatric neuromuscular limb pathology, sports-related lower limb injuries, and deformity correction surgery.

He maintains an active teaching role with the medical student body at Southampton Medical School and within the Wessex Deanery Specialist Registrar rotation, where he also serves as a GMC-recognised Educational and Clinical Supervisor (ES/CS). Mr Rad is also involved in research within the department.

At a European level, he serves as Acting Chair of the Website Committee for the European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society (EPOS).

Beyond his clinical and academic commitments, Mr Rad participates in humanitarian missions and acts as a Trustee for Cerebral Palsy Sport UK, a charitable organisation supporting children and adults with cerebral palsy through sport and physical activity.

He also undertakes medico-legal work in both medical negligence and personal injury claims, and is happy to receive instructions.
